3 days and 20+ collections later Portland Fashion Week (3rd largest in the US) has come to a close.
Here are the highlights from Day 3, Luxe High End Collections.
Built For Man
The Vibe: Subtle luxury. Masculine with major sex appeal.
The Clothes: Leather pants, onesies, jackets and a shell. Clean lines, neutral palette and expert detailing. Luxe leather served as a base, layered with super soft knits. I never thought I would like leather onesies (on a dude) but Creative Director, Francisco Hernandez has proven me wrong. Black, tan and white leather marched down the runway in primarily monochromatic themes. From where I sat, I could see the binary code embroidered down the side of the arms and legs and zippers at the cuff of the pant leg. The perfect minimal detailing with significance. Consistency, thematic, purposeful. It was such an exciting yet simple collection.
Enviable Piece: Tan leather pants.
The Vibe: Glamour, elegance, luxury, excess.
The Clothes: Devon Yan-Berrong has a gift. From the fabric, to the silhouettes, to details, Devonation was stunnig. Swoon! White satin harem pants, no wait, it’s a jumper. White and gold were a consistent theme. Arm candy was abundant: Opera length black leather gloves, opera length fur gloves and matching hand pieces were perfectly paired with each look. Certainly there was an Asian influence as is often for Devon. But this collection took on a much more dramatic, old-world elegance.
Enviable piece: the white tulle dress. It reminded me (vaguely) of the wedding dress Stephanie Seymour wore in the November Rain music video. But way better.
Deyonte Weather Collection
The Vibe: I kept asking myself what the common thread in this collection was. By the end of the show my question went unanswered.
The Clothes: I’ll be honest, I didn’t love all of his collection. But there were some pieces that stood out. The leather circle skirt paired with a mesh top was lovely. We saw a lot of fringe, black lace and black mesh. The full length gowns were the strongest.
Enviable piece: The red dress.
